Oh man, Am I the only one to see this as a bad thing ? Microsoft and Zend announced today that they are going to part to improve PHP performances under the new releases of Windows and IIS (Internet Information Server). You can read all about it on TheRegister.
I honestly think it sucks. I have been no fan of Microsoft products for a long time. And especially since I had to work with such products for many years. It pains me to see that money is going to be injected to speed PHP up on a Microsoft platform. Fair enough, changes are going to be provided back to the community, but I fail to see how this might benefit people running Apache with PHP for instance.
I think it is about time to ditch PHP on my own server to go for something more in line with my convictions …
